Renunciation of Singapore Permanent Residency
Information on renouncing Singapore Permanent Residency while overseas.

A PR who has lost his/her PR status by remaining outside of Singapore without a valid Re-Entry Permit (REP), is not required* to apply for renunciation of PR.
*You may submit a request if you require a verification letter to prove that you are no longer a Singapore PR.
Please note that the Government reserves the right to reject or withhold the renunciation application of Singapore PR who has unresolved matters with government agencies or has outstanding National Service (NS) obligations.
With effect from 4 March 2024, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) is replacing previous submission for application of the Renunciation of Singapore Permanent Residence via Mission or at ICA Building, with an online application channel. Letter of Request for Renunciation of Permanent Residence Status (Annex A)
MINDEF Acknowledgement Form (for male PRs) (Annex B)
Documents to upload:
Passport biodata and signature page
Proof of name change (Deed poll, baptism certificate)*
Loss of IC police report/statutory declaration*
Clearance letter from MINDEF/SPF/SCDF*
Divorce papers, order of court, interim/final judgement, and child custody papers*
Death certificate*

Please provide scanned copies in PDF/JPEG/PNG format of the original and notarised translations for documents in any languages other than English.
ICA only accepts notarised translations and statutory declarations that are provided by (1) a Notary Public in Singapore or the issuing country; (2) attested or certified by the Embassy of the issuing country.

Please return the original Singapore Blue Identity Card separately to ICA at our office or via registered mail to ICA with following address within fourteen (14) days of submitting your renunciation application.

Processing time
The general processing time may take up to four (4) weeks from the receipt of your application. Some applications may take a longer to process. You will be issued with a letter of renunciation via email once your request has been processed.
Procedure
You can submit your Singapore PR Renunciation application via the online application form. Please return your Singapore Blue Identity Card to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) by registered mail or through your nearest Overseas Mission within 14 days of submitting the renunciation application online.
