Renunciation of Singapore Citizenship

Information on renouncing Singapore Citizenship while overseas.

The Singapore Government may reject the renunciation of Singapore citizenship by a male citizen if he has enjoyed citizenship privileges, including possession or use of the Singapore passport, and has outstanding National Service (NS) obligations.

With effect from 20 November 2023, all Singapore Citizenship renunciation applications are to be made via an online application form: https://go.gov.sg/renunciationsc. The form will take about 30 mins to complete.

All payments will also be collected online.

Applicants will be prompted to return the documents listed below after payment, which can be either be submitted to Singapore Trade Office or directly to ICA at Review 1, ICA Building, Level 6, 10 Kallang Road, Singapore 208718.

  1. Statutory Declaration of Renunciation Form

  2. Advisory Note on Renunciation Implication Form

  3. MINDEF Advisory Note (for male applicants only)

  4. Singapore Identity Card, Valid Singapore passport and/or Singapore Citizenship Certificate (where applicable)
