Important notice
Please note that if your passport is lost or damaged, you are not allowed to apply for a new passport online. You must apply for a new passport in person at an Overseas Mission.
Lost/Stolen Singapore international passport
You should report a lost passport either
In-person at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA);
Online; or
With the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei
To protect you from fraud and identity theft, passport(s) reported lost will not be valid for travel, even if recovered later. If you do recover your passport, you must surrender it to ICA or the Trade Office within 14 days. Failure to surrender a recovered passport is an offence. You could face a fine and/or imprisonment.
If your passport was lost or stolen while in Taiwan, you are also required to report the loss to any Service Centre of the National Immigration Agency (NIA) to obtain a lost passport report.
Reporting a lost passport
Online
Lost/stolen passports can be reported online via ICA’s e-Service. You will need the following information to report the loss of passport online:
Singpass login
Details on how the passport was lost
Police report details (if available)
You can only report the loss of passport online for yourself and your child (below 16 years old). If the circumstances of the loss of your child’s passport are different, you will be required to make a separate report for your child.
Through the Singapore Trade Office
You can report the loss through the Trade Office if you do not have Singpass. Please contact us by phone or email singtr_tpe@mfa.sg and provide the following:
Copies of two Singapore identity documents such as passport photocopy, NRIC, driving licence etc. for proof of identity
Copy of the loss passport report from NIA
The Trade Office may request for a face-to-face verification via video call to establish your identity.
Application for Document of Identity (DOI)
For urgent travel to Singapore only
If you need to return to Singapore urgently, you can apply for a temporary travel document called Document of Identity (DOI) instead of a new passport. Please note that the “Document of Identity” is for one-way travel to Singapore only. You can do so either online or through the Trade Office.
Online
If you had reported the loss of your passport online, you can apply for the DOI via ICA’s e-Service. When reporting the loss of the passport, please indicate “Taiwan” as the location of loss and proceed to make online payment for the DOI. Once the application for the DOI is approved, ICA will send the DOI via PDF format to your designated email.
You would need to print this DOI in colour and present it along with the NIA report to the immigration officer when departing Taiwan.
Through the Singapore Trade Office
You can apply for a DOI through the Trade Office if you do not have Singpass or did not report the loss of your passport online.
Please contact us by phone or email singtr_tpe@mfa.sg and provide the following:
One passport size photograph
Any documents which can prove your identity (such as a photocopy of your lost passport, driving license or NRIC)
Return flight details
Copy of the NIA report
Fees
Payment of TWD370 per DOI.
Processing Time
At least two working days, especially during weekends and/or long public holidays. Hence, you may have to reschedule your departure from Taiwan, if necessary.
Upon your return to Singapore, you will need to surrender the DOI and apply for a replacement passport at ICA.
